September 6, 2019 - Olifants wilderness camp, South Africa - Up before dawn to prepare for long hikes in Kruger National Park over the course of three days. On our last bush walk we came across this lone male elephant. He began charging. Our guides told us to move swiftly away. It was intense.

August 23, 2014 - My first big cycling event! I rode 51 miles on this Saturday for Bike MS. (I’d previously only ridding 30 miles in a stretch.) Having a relatively protected route around Lebanon Ohio and a whole slew of folks of different skill levels made it doable (and extremely rewarding).
August 22, 2008 - These Chinese Lanterns grew outside our house in Dayton. I thought they were amazing — such a bright pop of orange and unique shape. Bonus? They dry really well and last for years in a vase. Mom would transplant some & they still show up in her garden that my brother tends.
August 21, 2018 - I couldn’t salvage this old calendar but I did document the set of stickers that came with it. I need to block my calendar off with more of these activities.
August 20, 2016 - UDF Reading Center and Coffee Station, Mt. Adams Cincinnati
August 19, 2003 - McDonald’s PlayPlace, somewhere in Cincinnati… I could spend an entire day trying to track down the location but I’m sure it’s been replaced by a “box” McDonald’s. My only clues are other photos from the day in Pleasant Ridge and Hyde Park.
August 18, 2007 - I’m out in Grass Valley, California on vacation. “Wanna go see a llama?” my friend Erik asked. OF COURSE I DID!
August 16, 2012 - Horse drawn carriages outside of Macy’s and Palomino on Fountain Square. (I always shudder when I see these carriages and wished they’d stop the practice.)
August 15 2008 - I’m in San Diego for a wedding. The guest list has many LiveJournalers — many meeting for the first time. It’s where I met Brian Hill, whose real-life demeanor surpassed his delightful online presence. He was one of the good ones.
